Meeting Items
Discussion of first newsletter and plans to reach out to Grand
Strand Bicycles to include their running group
Recruit volunteers webinar discussed
Blue crab recap – numbers were down due to lack of exposure, club profited
overall from the event, but more PR is needed next year and advertising needs
to start earlier
Treasurer’s Report: Club has money set aside for two $1,000 Track
and Field scholarships for outstanding male and female high school students;
money now resides in CD; club also has various funds for upcoming events and
future scholarships
Paid memberships discussed; membership for the GSRC is now set up for
membership to last a full 365 days.
Prior to this, it was based on a calendar year. Members will be given reminders to renew
their membership 1 month and 1-week prior to their membership expiring. Club needs to push membership and think of
more benefits to offer paid members to gain more interest.
RRCA membership has been annualized and the GSRC is protected with
insurance for club group runs and club races.
Club by-laws were discussed as well as the need for updated
by-laws. The current by-laws were
written 6years ago when the GSRC was still under the “Myrtle Beach marathon
umbrella”. With the new board, there are
plans to update these.
2010 Elections
Nominations and second nominations were made for all members. A vote was then cast and the majority ruled.
President – Rick Lanigan
Vice President – Kevin McCallum
Treasurer – Terry Layton
Secretery – Julie Dural
Finally, a dispute between two parties of an LLC of which the GSRC
is part of was discussed. The board
members of the GSRC must decide to side with one of the two parties or choose
to dissolve the LLC. If the LLC is
dissolved, there is a fear that the Turkey Trot 8K may be at risk. The board members all concurred to hold off
on the decision in order to understand all legal ramifications and the operating
agreement of the LLC.
