Meeting Items Congratulations to Club members who ran the 114th Boston Marathon on April 19, 2010: Julie Dural: 3:22:38; Joe Tiso: 3:45:45; Roscoe Griffin: 3:45:51; Murray Hornick: 4:24:32.
Phyllis Monarch died unexpectedly Wednesday, April 14, 2010.
In recognition of Phyllis' contribution to the Club, members voted to name the Girl's High School Scholarship in her honor. It will be known as the Phyllis A. Monarch Girl's High School Scholarship. In addition, the members voted to contribute $250 to the South Carolina State Office of Victim Assistance in Phyllis' name.
Phyllis was a member of Grand Strand Running Club since 2005 and the Club Treasurer since 2007. She was contributing member of the club and will be missed. She remains in our thoughts.
Terry Layton presented a Treasurer's Report regarding the Club's financial status. All accounts are in order and funds are available as needed.
Jim Troxell reported on the status of the upcoming Blue Crab 5K on Saturday, May 8, 2010. Volunteers are need on race day. If you can help, and all club members are encouraged to do so, contact Jim at 843-272-1717 or show up at the Little River waterfront Saturday morning before 8AM.
Club volunteers are also needed Saturday and Sunday, May 15 and 16, at the Blue Crab Festival. Blue Crab activities, both the 5K Run/Walk and the Festival, are significant fund raisers for the Club. If you have a free couple of hours either weekend, please help.
Jim Troxell reported on issues regarding the 3-way partnership involving Festival Promotions, RMS Sports and the Club. A meeting to discuss the issues is planned for the near future.
