- AIDS Careteam 5K Report, Jim Troxell, Race Director. This was a for-fee GSRC produced event used as a fund raiser for the AIDS Careteam. Event had 106 registrations, raised $2348 in registration fees and almost $10K in direct contributions to the AIDS charity. GSRC billed the charity $515 to produced the event. The AIDS Careteam wants GSRC to produced the event again next year.
- GSRC will place an article in the 2010 Myrtle Beach Marathon magazine. Jim Troxell volunteered to write the article.
- GSRC Online Registration. Online registration has been used for three events this year: Huntington Beach 5K, Pawleys Island 5/10K and Careteam 5K. 128 Registrations were received online with no reported problems.
- Kevin McCullam recommended that the Club website be used as the vehicle to identify and control the discount on registration fees due members at Club owned races. Kevin will implement the required procedure.
- Palmetto200. The Palmetto200 is an overnight team relay race from Congaree Park outside Columbia, SC to Folly Beach, SC. Teams will consist of 4 – 12 members each and the event is scheduled to take place the weekend of April 30, 2009. The Club was contacted regarding participating and volunteering for the event. Several members expressed interest in the event. Palmetto200 is interested in sharing booth space with GSRC at the upcoming MBM Expo. Terry Layton will contact the event to get more information.
- GSRC 2010 MBM Expo Booth. GSRC will have a booth at the 2010 MBM Expo. Suggestions were made regarding booth activities: Posters high-lighting club sponsored events and charities; Continuous slide-show of Club activities; Comp race registration Give-aways. All suggestions for booth activities are invited.
- Kevin McCullam, Julie Dural, Dave Hanson and Terry Layton attended a very enlightening Web Seminar (a Webinar) on the use of Facebook to increase race participation and Club exposure. Julie Dural volunteered to manage a GSRC “Fan Page”.
- Julie Dural will pursue establishing a late April event in North Myrtle Beach.
- It was noted that on Saturday, Nov 14 there was the Run Til The Cows Come Home 5K in Pawleys Island with 160 registrations and the Conway Half Marathon with 300 registrations. That's a total of almost 500 local runners turning out on the same weekend. GSRC should be able to draw from this population.
